A lifelong native of North
Carolina and graduate of Davidson College and
Duke University School
of Medicine, Dr. Berry completed internship
and residency in internal medicine and fellowships
in hematology and oncology at Duke University
Medical Center. Dr. Berry is board certified
in internal medicine, hematology and medical
oncology. After completing his training, he
established Raleigh Hematology-Oncology Clinic
in 1979, now Cancer Centers of North Carolina.
He has been active in numerous medical organizations,
and in the past has served long terms as medical
director of Hospice of Wake County, medical
coordinator of Rex Cancer Center, and a director
on Hospice of Wake County's board of directors.
Dr. Berry cares for patients with all types
of cancer and blood disorders, but in recent
years has had a strong research interest in
prostate cancer. He serves as chairman of the
Genito-Urinary Cancer Research Committee of
US Oncology, a 900-member network of oncologists.
In this capacity he has served as principal
investigator on several large studies of the
use of chemotherapy in hormone-refractory prostate
cancer.
