Cancer Centers of North Carolina Offers Look Good. . . Feel Better Program
For Patients Being Treated for Cancer

Editor’s Note: Media are invited to the kick-off reception and informational program September 27th in the Cancer Centers of North Carolina located at 4104 Macon Road, Raleigh, NC 27607 from 1-3pm. The first Look Good . . .Feel Better® session will be offered October 9, 2006 @ 1pm.

Raleigh, NC – People being treated for cancer in Raleigh and surrounding areas will have the opportunity to improve the quality of their lives by participating in Look Good . . . Feel Better® at Cancer Centers of North Carolina. Look Good . . . Feel Better® is a free community-based program that teaches women beauty techniques while they are undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatments. Cancer Centers of North Carolina is partnering with the American Cancer Society to offer this service. Each participant in Look Good . . . Feel Better® will receive a kit of cosmetics available in their own personal skin tone type. Volunteer beauty professionals will teach makeup techniques, skin care, nail care and options related to hair loss.

The program is organized by the American Cancer Society and facilitated by Look Good . . . Feel Better® certified cosmetologists and other certified volunteers. Each participant will receive: • A free kit of cosmetics (approximately $250 in value)
• A 12-step care/make-up application lesson
• Demonstration of options dealing with hair loss
• Nail care techniques
• Make-over tips

A schedule with session dates will be made available at Cancer Centers of North Carolina. The first session is scheduled for October 9, 2006 @ 1pm. Reservations recommended. Pre-registration for a session is required. To register, call Cancer Centers of North Carolina at (919) 785-4920.

Feel Better® program was founded in 1987 by the Cosmetic, Toiletry and Fragrance Association (CTFA) Foundation, in cooperation with the American Cancer Society and the National Cosmetology Association. Look Good . . . Feel Better is product-neutral. Volunteers and program participants do not promote any cosmetic product line or manufacturer. All cosmetics used in the group program have been donated.

Established as Raleigh Hematology Oncology Associates in 1979 by Dr. William R. Berry, Cancer Centers of North Carolina is a comprehensive outpatient cancer treatment practice consisting of 16 board-certified physicians, nurse practitioners, oncology-certified nurses, research specialists, laboratory technicians and administrative and support staff.
